When rain falls upon mountainous landscapes it carves deep channels and valleys into the earth. As the winter's snow thaws, the streaming water attains a peak flow in spring, sometimes with the capacity to displace even the largest logs and boulders in its path. The rapid movement of water gives it a striking whiteness. Further enhancing this natural spectacle is the grand display created when water plummets from considerable heights.
